Inspector Clouseau

Published December 9, 2018

I AM a retired person who contributes to the household by running errands. One of my duties is to drop my grandchildren to school in the morning. I look forward to it as the early morning drive is relaxing. For the last two days, however, the protocol for a VIP movement has made life miserable especially for the children going to school, their parents, and others on the road.

Traffic at the Teen Talwar intersection was stopped a few minutes before 7am on all sides to allow a convoy to proceed on the road leading towards Clifton. This thoroughfare sees a lot of traffic around this time. The five-minute stoppage created chaos.

The next day traffic was stopped for another VIP movement for almost 10 minutes. Tempers ran short and the hapless policemen trying to control citizens turned crimson at the invective directed at them. Complete bedlam prevailed the moment the VIPs passed.

This is a request to the government to tell Inspector Clouseau responsible for the VIP movement about the ‘tabdeeli’ after elections. If Monsieur Clouseau is unrepentant, perhaps his transfer — to Siberia — may be considered.
