ISLAMABAD: Third seed Ti Chen of Chinese Taipei outplayed Mohammad Abid, the only Pakistani hope in the Serena Hotels ITF Futures Championship men’s singles, in the quarter-final here at the PTF Complex on Thursday.

Ti Chen, 35, comfortably overcame Abid 6-1, 6-3 to reach the last-four stage.

In another quarter-final, top seed Korean Kim Cheon Eui outclassed his Uzbek opponent Saidal’o Saidkarimov 6-4, 6-1.

Second seed Rio Noguchi of Japan defeated Germany’s Kai Wehnelt 7-6, 6-4 in their last-eight match while Alexis Canter of Great Britain got the better of Japan’s Sora Fukuda 6-3, 6-7, 7-5 in their quarter-final.

In ladies’ singles quarter-finals, Sara Mansoor outplayed Shimza Naz 6-0, 6-2; Hania Navaid bovercame Mahvish Chishtie 6-4, 6-4; Esha Jawad crushed Sheeza Sajid 6-0, 6-1 and Sarah Mahboob whipped Mehek Khokhar 6-1, 6-1.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan pair of Heera Ashiq and Mudassir Murtaza lost their men’s doubles quarter-final to the third seed duo of Eui Kim (Korea) and Rio Noguchi (Japan) 6-4, 6-2.
