SSP among nine cops arrested by NAB

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau’s Lahore branch arrested nine police officials, including a senior superintendent of police (SSP), on corruption charges here on Friday.

According to a spokesman for the accountability watchdog, those arrested by a NAB team from Lahore include former Lahore City Traffic Officer Rai Ijaz. He was arrested in the Sharea Faisal area of Karachi where he is currently serving as SSP. He had allegedly committed corruption in police funds.

The spokesman alleged that the SSP had embezzled funds to the tune of Rs700m from 2014 to 2016. His father Rai Zameer, a retired police officer and former district police officer of Gujrat, is also wanted in a corruption case. NAB’s Lahore branch is conducting raids for his arrest.

Excellent ! It will make them realise that nobody is above the law. Their uniform is to keep law & order, not to abuse it. Some generals, journalists and judges should follow.

NAB knows about one of the corrupt SSP -Where is law in Sindh, who is backing this Rao Anwer, a billions man in police services, backing by political parties, will high ups knows his status that he was fake encounter of Naqib Masood, and 400/700 more innocent still in line to open the cases, where as his political backers are living in his own home in Malir Cantt. declaring sub-jail, he have home in Karachi /Islamabad/UAE, he travelled UAE 54 business class ticket, how many plots he have uncounted plots in Malir. how he stayed 9 yrs in one place, NAB must investigate his daily expenses in UAE living beyond means. walks up NAB.
