PESHAWAR: Keeping in view the alarming increase in number of ice addicts the Peshawar district government has decided to establish a 100-bed hospital for rehabilitation of the affected people.

Speaking at a meeting of the district council Peshawar, district nazim Mohammad Asim Khan said the provincial government was working on legislation for control on ice in order to overcome the spread of the menace at the earliest.

The meeting was presided over by the council’s convener Syed Qasim Ali Shah while SSP (operations) Javaid Iqbal briefed the council members about the police action against ice drug users, car and motorbike lifting in the district.

Appreciating the reforms in the police system, the district nazim said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had become a role model for rest of the provinces. He directed the police officers to extend full cooperation to the elected representatives and members of the council and resolve their legal issues as they had to face public in routine matters.

The nazim said the government was implementing a number of security measures in Peshawar to improve security and to create an environment suitable for peace and investment. He said that CCTV cameras would be installed at 3,000 prominent points in the provincial capital under its safe city project.
