ISLAMABAD: All seeded players, except Mohammad Abid, made it to the quarter-finals of the Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships here at the Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex on Tuesday.

Second seed Abid was stunned by Abid Ali Akber 6-2, 6-3. The latter, who is settled in the United States, displayed a powerful combination of forehand and backhand drives, not letting his seasoned opponent settle throughout the match.

Shamael Chaudhry won his encounter against Waqas Malik of Lahore in a sizzling three-set match. Shamael won the first set comfortably but faced resistance in the second set which lasted at tie break in favour of Waqas.

In the final set Shamael came back courtesy strong serves and solid ground strokes down the line and across the court.

Heera Ashiq also struggle hard to win against Barkatullah from Peshawar in a closely-contested three-set match.
