ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif, who is undergoing medical tests, is set to meet his elder brother Nawaz Sharif on Monday.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said a statement on Sunday that it had allowed Nawaz Sharif to meet his younger brother in Islamabad.

Nawaz Sharif had demanded that he be allowed to meet his brother. Moreover, he had alleged that NAB was not providing proper medical treatment to Shahbaz Sharif.

But NAB had claimed that proper treatment was being provided to the opposition leader.

Shahbaz Sharif, who is also president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, is in NAB custody over alleged corruption charges in the Ashiyana housing scam. He has been residing in a house at Minister’s Enclave, which has been declared sub-jail.

Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif was taken to a private lab for CT (Computed Tomography) scan and some blood tests in Islamabad on Sunday. He will be kept at Minister’s Enclave till the time the CT scan report is received.

Talking to Dawn, Executive Director of Polyclinic Hospital Dr Shahid Hanif confirmed that the CT scan was conducted on Sunday.

“However, since the patient is not admitted to the hospital, it has been left to NAB’s discretion whether it wants to shift him (patient) to Lahore or keep him in Islamabad,” he said.

According to sources, after examining the report doctors would decide if the patient would be kept under observation or allowed to be sent to jail. Contrary to the previous practice, Shahbaz Sharif was not taken to Lahore after the National Assembly session concluded on Friday.
