LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has launched investigation into the affairs of the OPF Housing Scheme (Overseas Pakistanis Foundation) on charges of fraud.

According to a NAB spokesperson, the bureau has started a probe against the OPF Housing Scheme Phase-I (Extension) administration after receiving complaints that it had sold more plots than the land available in the society. The complainants said they were not being given their plots despite paying the amount.

He said the NAB had asked other affectees of the scheme to file their claims with it within the next two weeks. He said claims would not be entertained submitted after two weeks.

REFERENCE: The bureau has decided to file a reference against former Sargodha University vice chancellor and five others for illegally opening sub-campuses in Lahore and Mandi Bahauddin and embezzling millions of rupees.

“The NAB will file the reference against former VC University of Sargodha Muhammad Akram, former registrar retired Brig Rao Jamil, Lahore campus former CEO Mian Javed, Mandi Bauddin sub-campus CEO Waris and his partner Naeem and former director admin Akram next month,” an official told Dawn.

He said none of the suspects had so far sought for plea bargain.
