KARACHI, June 22: The Nazim of Baldia Town, Aurangzeb Khan, on Tuesday presented the town’s budget of Rs216.70 million for the fiscal year 2005-06, showing a balance between revenue and expenditures.

The town nazim presented the budget in town council’s meeting held here with Naib-Nazim Suleman Sindhi in the chair.

Out of the total expenditure of Rs216.429 million, Rs117.8 million was earmarked for development, which is 58.33 per cent of the budget. The priority areas of the budget are maintenance of roads, repair and installation of streetlights, health, sanitation and horticulture.

Revenue of Rs195 million is expected to be generated from octroi tax, Rs2 million from property and betterment tax from the Sindh government, Rs8.5 million from receipts of dues from the city government, Rs0.5 million from advertisements, Rs0.6 million from curtailing from contractors in head of water, Rs0.5 million from tenders and quotations, Rs0.1 million from approval fees of contractors, Rs2.5 million from public utilities departments in head of road cutting and Rs1 million from miscellaneous heads.

Baldia Town TMO Ghulam Shabbir Jatoi, Council Officer Ansar Hasan Siddiqui and others were present. Later, the members of town council approved the budget.—PPI
