KARACHI: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has revised the Consumer Price Index (CPI) based inflation figure for October to 6.78 per cent from 7pc announced earlier.

“Monthly review of price indices for the month of October has been rationalised by adjusting seven slabs of gas prices introduced by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) into five slabs of CPI methodology adopted by PBS,” according to a notice issued on the PBS website.

Inflation in September was recorded at 5.1pc and 3.8pc in Oct 2017. PBS incorporated about 104.9pc increase of gas price in the inflation numbers.

Gas price month-on-month has been reduced to 85.3pc, however, core inflation remained at 8.2pc.
