LAHORE: The concluding night of the play, Sipahi Maqbool Hussain, drew a huge crowd on Monday.

Theatre veterans Khalid Abbas Dar and Iftikhar Thakur were also among the audience. The play was written by Asghar Nadeem Syed and jointly directed by Amir Nawaz and Qaiser Javed. It was organised by the Lahore Arts Council.

The play consisted of a few dance pieces as well presented by Versatile Dance Academy dancers.

Dar told Dawn that he had performed on stage for 39 years. Thakur appreciated Sipahi Maqbool Hussain, saying that the council should organise such plays frequently.

On the concluding night on Monday, the hall was almost packed to capacity. Participating actors, including Sarfraz Ansari, Rashid Mehmood and Zohaib, said that they thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Such plays were instrumental in roping in audience for quality theatre.

The dancers were also excited, saying that their performance was highly appreciated by the audience and they would like to participate in more plays.
