PESHAWAR: Three people were killed when rivals clashed over a minor dispute in the Nuthia area of the city on Monday, police said.

An official at the Gulberg police station told Dawn that the incident took place in Lewnay Baba area. He said the incident started over a minor spat involving guests and later both parties opened fire on each other, which resulted into three deaths.

The official identified the slain as Sher Ali and his brother Asghar, and Tariq from the other side.

The police official said Sher Ali was former naib nazim and was a worker of Awami National Party.

The official said the police had registered an FIR; however, both sides refused to register cases against each other. He said so far no arrest had been made.
