LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday sought report from the Punjab Chief Secretary over restoration of United Christian Hospital (UCH), Lahore.

He was hearing the case of lack of funds for restoration of the hospital, at the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry.

The CJP remarked that he could go to any extent for the restoration of the hospital. “The UCH was a hospital which was gifted by the Christian community to the Lahorites but now it had been ruined,” he said.

Seeks record of housing society

The CJP ordered the chief secretary to come up with a restoration plan of the hospital within a week on the next hearing.

SOCIETY: The Supreme Court on Sunday sought the entire record of the Greater Lahore Housing Society next week.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar was hearing the case of the society at Supreme Court Lahore Registry.

The CJP remarked that the housing societies/ colonies administrators were involved in fraud and were not giving due rights of others.

Society owner Zia Haider Rizvi, a former law minister of Punjab, told the court that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was calling him for investigation into the project and pleaded before the court to order the NAB to close the case.

The CJP replied that he could not order closure of the case but could direct the NAB to complete investigation in a week.

He also remarked that he had earlier directed the Director General of NAB, Lahore, to give respect to the people who were being investigated in different cases. “The DG started searching for favours from politicians after he was transferred,” the CJP remarked.

He directed the NAB to respect Mr Rizvi when he appeared before the investigating team of the case.

The CJP asked Mr Rizvi to submit the record of the housing society and adjourned the hearing till next week.
