KOHAT: The police on Saturday arrested two inter-provincial women drug smugglers from a Karachi-bound bus and recovered hashish from them.

A Jarma police team during routine checking of vehicles at Muslimabad checkpost on the Indus Highway disembarked two women from a bus coming from Peshawar. They were carrying a bag which was searched and ten kilogrammes of fine quality hashish was found in it.

The smugglers were identified as Salma Bibi and Shaheen Bibi belonging to Mardan. During preliminary interrogation they told the police that they had bought the consignment from Khyber tribal district for smuggling it to Karachi. They also disclosed names of other gang members.

The women were shifted to the police station where a case was registered against them. Later, they were presented in a court, where the judge sent them to prison.
