LAHORE: The Punjab government appointed on Thursday MPA Sumera Ahmad as vice chairperson of the Daanish Schools and Centre of Excellence Authority and MPAs Neelam Hayat Malik and Khadija Umar members.

The authority body visited the authority office where General Manager Bilal Khalid briefed them about the authority. Ms Ahmad directed the officials to improve the performance of the authority and also ensured them of her cooperation.

PEF: Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Managing Director Imran Yaqub said he would resolve the issues of partner schools on a priority basis.

At a weekly meeting of the foundation, he directed the officials to ensure regular meetings with the school owners between 10am to 12pm every day to resolve their problems, such as payments and annual quality assurance test (QAT). He also said that officials should also ensure the school owners to implement foundation’s rules and regulation.

A spokesperson for the PEF said the annual QAT for session 2018-19 would be held from Dec 3, 2018 to Jan 31, 2019. The QAT would be conducted simultaneously across all educational programmes while the Professional Development Program would conduct evaluation test of teachers and head teachers of partner schools that completed the Teacher Development Programme and the School Leadership Programme I & II of the current year.

PUNJAB UNIVERSITY: Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Niaz Ahmad met deans and heads of various departments to improve international ranking of the PU. QS Universities Ranking Director Ashwin Jerome Fernandes, PU Ranking Committee Chairman Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, deans and heads of various departments were present.

Mr Fernandes briefed the meeting about requirements of relevant data which is considered for determining international ranking of the university.

He briefed the participants about the types of information required by QS World Universities Ranking to enter into the relevant categories that determine appropriate ranking of a university.

He congratulated the PU administration for making 39 times improvement in international ranking.

The VC said that administration would extend support to research projects and activities for creation of new knowledge.

He said they would help to improve country’s socio-economic status and contribute to uplifting international ranking of the university.
