KARACHI, June 19: Speakers at a demonstration organized by the Law Students Forum here at the Karachi Press Club on Sunday criticizing the government’s decision to conduct all law exams in English demanded the revival of the old system under which examinations were conducted in Urdu as well.
The speakers said that an overwhelming majority of the students studied in the Urdu medium and this decision of conducting the examinations in English language would not only deprive them of their right to education but would also affect them economically as it would restrict them from practicing the law in Urdu.
The speakers demanded that a high-level inquiry be carried out to find out who was actually responsible for this anti-Urdu decision so that the real conspiracy against the national language could be unearthed and foiled.
They were also calling for the sacking of all those involved in taking this decision.
