CHARSADDA: A journalist was among four members of a family gunned down in Talashah Korona area here on Tuesday over a land dispute.

Umarzai police quoted Amanullah, a resident of Sherpao village, as saying that Arshad Jamal, also his cousin, shot dead his (Jamal’s) mother named Gulshan, sister-inlaw Rani, and nephew Haider over a land dispute.

The complainant said then the accused shot dead his (Amanullah’s) brother identifi ed as Ihsanullah Sherpao, correspondent of a private TV channel.

He said Ihsanullah was coming home after dropping his children in school when he was shot dead in his car.

The police said Jamal wanted share in his father’s land, but his mother refused because the accused was an ice addict. The accused had also shot and injured his wife in August and had been absconding. He was living with his sister in Karachi.

Later, his wife demanded her share of land to forgive him. So, the accused accepted her condition and demanded of his mother to hand his share of land to him.

The police said Ihsanullah was mediating between the accused and his mother.
