ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday ratified death sentence awarded to 14 Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants by military courts and jail sentences awarded to eight others.

The 14 militants were found to be involved in “attacking armed forces/law enforcement agencies of Pakistan, killing of innocent civilians and destruction of educational institutions/Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Hotel Malam Jabba, Swat”, according to the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Twenty two people, including 19 personnel of armed forces and law-enforcement agencies and three civilians, had lost their lives in the attacks carried out by the TTP militants.

Those awarded death sentences were Irshad Ahmed, son of Mumtaz, Rehman Ali, son of Hassan Ghani, Saifur Rehman, son of Akbar Aman, Rehmat Ali, son of Sher Malik, Fazal Mabood, son of Fazal Rabi, Afreen, son of Naseem, Ahmad Hussain, son of Qari Mohammad Zarif, Bacha Rehman, son of Masoom Jan, Mohammad Majeed Khan, son of Sanoubar, Mohammad Aqil, son of Nawab Ali, Saifullah, son of Mohammad Rafique, Mohammad Sher Ali Khan, son of Sher Afzal Khan, Mohammad Tariq, son of Ghulam Badshah, and Ali Rehman, son of Fazal Wahid.
