PESHAWAR: MPA Shaukat Ali Yousfzai took oath of the office of provincial minister for information and public relations here on Wednesday.

Mr Yousafzai was previously appointed provincial government spokesperson; however, his elevation to the post of information minister was being expected after his election to the provincial assembly in the by-polls from his native Shangla district.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Governor House and Governor Shah Farman took oath from Mr Yousafzai. Chief Minister Mahmood Khan was also present.

Meanwhile, the provincial administration department also issued a notification, saying that in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 132 (1) of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the governor on the advice of the chief minister has appointed MPA Shaukat Ali Yousafzai as provincial minister for information and public relations department.

Mr Yousafzai had also served as information minister for a short period in the previous PTI government.

The number of KP cabinet ministers has now surged to 12 following the appointment of Mr Youafzai as minister.
