LAKKI MARWAT: A man shot dead his wife and injured his son here on Tuesday.

Police said the incident took place in Ratanzai Bittani village in the limits of Tajori police station. They said the killer said to be mentally disturbed opened fire on the inmates in the house, killing his wife on the spot and injuring his son, Naseer Mohammad. The injured was shifted to a hospital in Tajori town.

Police said they had registered a case against the killer on the complaint of his wounded son and began investigation.

Also, an oil tanker overturned on the Indus Highway near Manjiwala Chowk prompting police to reach the site and cordoned off the area.

Witnesses said a large quantity of oil spilled on the road.

Many residents also rushed to the place in a bid to get their containers filled with diesel but police kept them away from the site to avert any tragedy.

The oil tanker was going to Peshawar from Mehmood Kot and was carrying 40,000 litres of oil.

Police also did not close the busy highway for traffic and called in heavy machinery to lift the oil tanker and clear the oil from the road.
