KOHAT: An oil tanker hit a motorcyclist from behind on the Kohat-Peshawar bypass road, killing him on the spot. The victim was named Shakeel Khan, a resident of Jungle Khel.

The oil tanker driver fled the scene leaving behind the vehicle. Zareen Khan, an uncle of the deceased, filed FIR against the driver in the cantonment police station. The body of the victim was taken to the KDA Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

A man named Gulfaraz died when a Kalashnikov he was cleaning went off in Tappi area on the Bannu road. He got a bullet in his belly.

He was taken to hospital where in his dying statement he told the police that he pulled the trigger of his Kalashnikov and the bullet hit his stomach. The police registered FIR on the basis of the statement of the victim.

Meanwhile, during operations in the city and its outskirts the police arrested 10 drug peddlers and recovered 15 kilogrammes of hashish and three home-made liquor bottles. The police filed cases against the accused and sent them to prison.

Meanwhile, the Lachi police arrested 40 suspects, including eight Afghan refugees, and recovered a G-3 rifle, a Kalashnikov, three shotguns, four pistols and two repeaters from them. The action was carried out in Ghurzandi, Dolai Banda and Karboghi Afghan refugee camp.
