TOBA TEK SINGH: The civic agencies failed to kill the rabid dog who injured 14 more children in various parts of Gojra on Wednesday.

A day earlier it bit 13 children who had to be taken to the THQ hospital for first aid.

The stray dog attacked more children in Gojra and nearby Chak 372-JB, Bujjianwali, injuring 14 of them. The children were taken to the THQ hospital which remained short of vital anti-rabies vaccine and the doctors referred the children to Faisalabad’s Allied Hospital.

Gojra Municipal Committee chief officer Zahid Fareed Tarar claimed that a team continued search of the dog but failed to find it. He said a campaign had been launched in the city to kill stray dogs.

STRIKE: The employees of courts in Gojra observed strike and took out a rally on Wednesday to protest alleged thrashing of a colleague by a policeman.

The protesters who also staged a sit-in at Gojra courts complex told reporters that Muhammad Talha had parked his motorcycle outside his house at Green Park from where a police team led by sub-inspector Khalid Jamil took away his vehicle. They said Talha rang up 15 emergency police and visited the city police station to register theft complaint and he found his two-wheeler there.

SI Khalid Jamil thrashed him after an exchange of harsh words, they said.

DPO’s spokesperson Attaullah claimed that the motorbike was found abandoned in a street so policemen took it to the police station. He said the officials handed over the vehicle to Talha after due process, denying manhandling of the clerk.
