LAHORE: Punjab Healthcare Commission has imposed a fine of Rs0.5 million on a lady health visitor (LHV) for impersonating a lady doctor.

A spokesperson said here on Tuesday that Junaid Azam had submitted a complaint to the PHC, stating that he had taken his pregnant wife to Al-Rehman Clinic and Maternity Home, Bhudhal Sant, Multan, where one Asifa Kamran started treating his wife. However, both the mother and child died during the treatment, alleged Junaid.

The spokesperson said complainant’s allegation proved to be true in PHC’s investigation. It was proven that Asifa Kamran was impersonating a lady doctor although she was only a qualified lady health visitor.

Subsequently, the PHC imposed a fine of Rs0.5m – maximum under the PHC Act 2010 – on the clinic and directed the police to register a case against the owner of the healthcare establishment.

Moreover, the PHC sent the case of Asifa Kamran to the Pakistan Nursing Council for further action.
