LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday directed the police to ensure within two days arrest of a quack who caused amputation of a seven-year-old girl’s arm.

Punjab Healthcare Commission’s Chief Operating Officer Dr Ajmal Khan told the chief justice that Liaqat, a resident of a village of Chichawatni, took his minor daughter Irum to a quack, Talib Foji, after her left arm was fractured.

Dr Khan said the quack treated the girl and claimed that he had fixed the fractured bone after dressing her arm.

However, the girl after some days started complaining of severe pain in her arm that had swollen.

Her father took her to the Nishtar Hospital, Multan, but he left the hospital after spending one night there as no one attended the patient.

Finally, he took the minor girl to the Sahiwal District Headquarter Hospital, where the doctors had to amputate her arm to save her life as it had developed severe infection.

Mr Khan said a case had been lodged against the quack who was at large.

The chief justice directed the Punjab police to ensure arrest of the absconding quack within two days.
