PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has claimed to have achieved another target in the energy sector by successfully completing Daral Khwar hydropower project having generation capacity of 36.6MW. The power project has been completed by the province on its own.
According to a statement issued here on Sunday, Daral Khwar hydropower project had been connected to national grid after starting of power generation.
The power project will earn Rs1.2 billion annually for the provincial exchequer.
Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation Chief Executive Officer Engr Syed Zainullah Shah said that the power project, which is located in Behrain area of Swat district, would generate 154GWh of electricity annually which will earn Rs1.2 billion for the province.
He further stated that the power project was generating cheapest clean source of electricity. He revealed the fact that besides Daral Khwar a number of other power projects would start generating electricity during the current year, thus earning billions of rupees for the provincial kitty.
