MIANWALI: The PML-N candidate for by-election in PP-87 Mianwali announced to boycott the election scheduled to be held on Oct 14.

Before the July general elections, a candidate for the constituency had died after which the Election Commission of Pakistan postponed elections here.

Former PML-N MPA Ali Haider Noor Khan announced to boycott the election alleging that in the general elections his party’s mandate had been stolen by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and the same was expected this time around.

Mianwali district comprises two National Assembly seats both of which were won by PTI candidates Imran Khan and Amjad Ali Khan. There are four provincial assembly seats out of which the PTI clinched three with Abdul Rehman Khan, Ameenullah Khan and Sardar Sibtain Khan. Election on the fourth, PP-87, had been postponed due to the death of an independent candidate.

The contestants for PP-87 included Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar (PTI), Mohammad Rafi (independent), Muhammad Khalid (PPP), Qari Shafaullah (Tehreek-i-Labbaik Ashraf Jalali group), Bostan Khan (independent) and Inshaullah Khan (Milli Muslim League).
