SAHIWAL: Parents have the construction of a boundary wall around the Government Middle School, 12/11-L, Chichawatni.

Started as a primary school in 1924, the facility was upgraded to a middle school in 1989. The school is on three acres and has eight rooms. Jabbar Gujjar, of the village, told Dawn many times local school management had written to the department for the wall but in vain. In 2017, the District Education Authority said that funds would be allocated for the wall in 2018.

Ironically, in the 2018 Annual Development Programme, no fund was allocated for the school wall. The lack of the wall also adds security risk for both students and teachers.

The school has 200 students and 11 teachers.

The 11-member school management committee, headed by Haji Ramzan, is also inactive. The committee has no funds to do any kind of development work on its own.

On the right side of the school is sewage disposable pump, which constantly emits stinking smell in the surrounding areas. Mr Ramzan said funds were also needed to cover the sewage dumping well. Many parents demanded the construction of the wall.
