ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has written a letter to the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) seeking assurance for the participation of all teams in the six-nation hockey tournament scheduled to take place in Lahore from Sept 26.
“Pakistan is a safe country for international activities and we had successfully hosted the World XI tour to Pakistan earlier this year,” said the PHF letter to the AHF.
“If any team is not willing to tour Pakistan due to some personal commitments, than the tournament can also be postponed for sometime, but all teams must participate in the mega event,” added the letter.
“This event is very important for the revival of international hockey in Pakistan, therefore participation of all teams is necessary in the extravaganza.”
Besides Pakistan, the other teams that are to participate in the tournament include Oman, Qatar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan. However, Oman, Qatar and Sri Lanka have expressed their inability to participate in the event due to financial reasons.
