KARACHI: Leading tennis players of the country will be participating in the 7th Essa Lab Open National Seniors & Juniors Tennis Championship 2018 will be held at Karachi Gymkhana from Sept 8-14.

The championship will be jointly staged by Sindh Tennis Association and Karachi Tennis Association under the auspices of Pakistan Tennis Federation.

A press conference to unveil the details of the championhip was held at Karachi Gymkhana which was addressed by Dr. Farhan Essa, PTF’s Khalid Rehmani. also present on the occasion were former Davis Cupper Khawaja Saeed Hai, Gulzar Firoz, Khalid Shamsi and Ghulam Mohammad.

Dr. Farhan said that their organization fulfill its social responsibility by organizing more than ten sporting events every year and tennis events will hold special importance for the orgaanisers.

Khalid said that the week-long national championship will be held from Sept 8-14 at Karachi Gymkhana dwhich carries a total prizemoney of Rs 100,000 which makes it a PTF Grade One tournament.

Events to be contested in the championship include Juniors girls and boys singles and doubles in the under-18 to under-10 age categories as well as in seniors categories of 35-plus Singles and 55-plus singles.

Soft tennis events as well as para sports singles will also be staged. The last date of entry is Sept 6. Khalid added that players from Quetta, Hyderabad and Karachi have already confirmed their participations and more entries are expected.
