The 1965 war veteran Sepoy Maqbool Hussain breathed his last at Combined Military Hospital in Attock on Tuesday, the military’s media wing reported.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the funeral prayers of the deceased soldier will be offered on Wednesday “with full military honours”.

Sepoy Maqbool Hussain of Azad Kashmir Regiment got injured during the 1965 war and was taken prisoner by the Indian Army. After languishing in Indian jails for 40 years, Maqbool Hussain was released in 2005. He was awarded Sitara-i-Jurrat for his gallantry services.

The army chief has expressed grief on the demise of the veteran soldier, ISPR added.
