PESHAWAR: The city police on Monday suspended an assistant sub-inspector for beating up a bank guard on Thursday.

The incident took place at a bank branch located on the Arbab Road in Peshawar cantonment. The guard had asked the officer to not take gun inside the bank, upon which he got infuriated and roughed him up inside the bank.

A mobile phone video of the incident later went viral on social media and WhatsApp groups, after which the police announced to suspend the officer identified as Fareed Zada.

A statement issued here said the officer had been suspended and an inquiry committee headed by SP cantonment Waseem Riaz had been formed to probe the matter.
