KOHAT: The cantonment police busted a four-member gang involved in extortion and spreading fear among the people during a targeted operation here on Sunday.

SHO cantonment after receiving complaints launched a hunt for the gang, and on Sunday got a tip-off from an informer about its presence in a house.

A police party cordoned off the house and arrested the gang members, including proclaimed offender Nadeem and Sher, who were wanted in an attempted murder case.

The police also seized two repeaters, four pistols, two rifles, 10 chargers and hundreds of cartridges from their possession.

Meanwhile, a woman was killed in accidental firing by her son in Naway Kalay area on Sunday.

The cantonment police said that 13-year-old Manzoor was playing with a pistol of his father when it went off and a bullet hit his mother named Gulnaz Bibi. She was rushed to hospital in serious condition where she succumbed to her injuries.

The body was handed over to relatives after postmortem. The police registered a case and started further investigations.
