RAWALPINDI: Robbers shot and injured a captain of ride-sharing service Careem on Wednesday during a car snatching attempt while two men sustained bullet injuries in an armed clash, the police said.

According to police, the captain, Tanvir Umer, received a call from a ride late on Tuesday night and the location was Kotha Mor in Saddar Bairooni police area.

As the captain reached the location, eye-witnesses said, some armed men tried to snatch his car and when he resisted they shot and injured him.

The robbers managed to escape without snatching the car.

The victim was shifted to hospital for medical treatment.

Saddar Bairooni police reached the crime scene late and collected evidence and investigated the incident.

“Umer is lying unconscious in a hospital and the police will record his statement as soon as he regained his consciousness,” a police official said.

He said a case had been registered against the culprits.

Separately, two people were critically injured in an armed clash took place between two groups over a rent dispute at Bakra Mandi.

The victims were shifted to DHQ Hospital for medical treatment.

Police have registered an attempted murder case against the accused and began investigation.
