UPPER DIR: Two people were killed and 12 others, women and children among them, were injured in separate road accidents in Upper Dir district on Tuesday.
Police said two persons were killed and two children injured when a car plunged into a ravine in Jatgram area of Wari tehsil on Tuesday morning.
The police said a family was going to Wari in a car, whose driver lost control over the vehicle at Jatgram and it fell into a ravine. A man was killed on the spot, while three others were injured. They were shifted to the Wari hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries.
In the second incident, a vehicle carrying tourists plunged into a ravine in Jandrai area of remote Kohistan. Police said the driver lost control over the steering at a sharp turn and the vehicle fell down into a ravine. As a result, 10 tourists were injured. They were shifted to the Thal basic health unit and later to the district headquarters hospital, Dir.
The injured tourists belonged to Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. They included children and women.
BODIES OF COALMINERS REACH HOME: The bodies of three miners hailing from Karo Dara area, who were killed in a coalmine in Balochistan, reached their native villages on Tuesday.
At least seven miners were buried alive while working in the Gillani coalmine in Balochistan some days ago. The bodies of three of them were retrieved from the mine and dispatched to Upper Dir for burial in their native areas.
The locals said relatives of the remaining four miners had gone to Gillani area and were struggling to collect the bodies.
