QUETTA: One person was killed and 10 others, including two security personnel, were injured in an explosion in Chaman on Sunday.

Official sources said that an explosive-laden motorcycle was parked at the busy Mall Road in the town located at Pak-Afghan border, which exploded with a remote control device in front of the under-construction office of the district police officer of Qila Abdullah.

The sources said that the blast took place when a pickup of the Frontier Corps reached the site. “FC patrolling vehicle was targeted by exploding the explosive-laden motorcycle which was parked at the main road,” senior police officer Ashraf Kakar said.

Soon after the blast, a heavy contingent of police and FC personnel, along with rescue workers, reached there and took the injured to the district hospital, Chaman.

The man killed in the blast was hiring a taxi for proceeding to Quetta with his family. He was identified as Mohammad Kamran.

Ten people, including two soldiers of Frontier Corps, were injured in the blast.

The FC pickup was badly damaged in the blast while some other vehicles and motorcycles were partially damaged and windowpanes of several nearby shops and buildings were smashed due to the impact of the explosion.

Law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident.
