Pension delay

Published August 11, 2018

I USED to draw my pension smoothly for about a decade from the National Bank of Pakistan Rawalpindi Cantonment branch. The government has now stopped paying pensions on the presentation of the pension book.

I also applied for future payment of pension into my account No 3039060102 (Pension Payment Order No. PSO/R/G/592), maintained in the above-mentioned branch (the same bank which used to pay me pension on pension book entries). However, I have not received my pension for the last two months. With Eid so near, one can imagine the agony that me, and my family are undergoing.

In the West, all authorities, be it doctors, engineers, and government agencies are punished for neglect or negligence (Law of Tort).

The Chief Justice of Pakistan is requested to take notice of the delay in the payment of pensions. The Controller of Military Pensions should be asked about the inordinate lapse in processing the pension-book-to-account-transfer cases.

This septuagenarian pensioner would like to suggest that till the CMP has processed all pending cases, pensions should be credited into applicants’ account as an overdraft before Eid and thereafter.
