Gilgit Baltistan Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Gohar Nafees on Friday said that four officers of the police force have been suspended over their alleged negligence in being able to prevent the incidents of torching of schools in Diamer.

DIG Nafees said this while sharing the latest developments in the Diamer school torching case with the media persons.

The suspended officers include the SHOs of Darel and Tangir, respectively, along with a grade-17 officer, he said.

"We will reinstate two officers on the condition that they guarantee the arrest of the wanted criminals [behind the torching incidents]," said DIG Nafees, adding that the identity of the mastermind behind the torching will be unveiled within 24 hours.

The meeting was headed by the chief minister of Gilgit Baltistan with the force commander, chief secretary and inspector general of police in attendance.
