PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Monday announced to register all the food outlets and issue 300 licences to the owners within one month.

The authority has the mandate to register all the food outlets in the next six months while strict action would be taken against unregistered food outlets after the grace period, Attaullah Khan, a spokesperson of the authority, said.

He said owners of more than 300 food outlets had applied for licence in July which were processed, analysed and later recommended for licensing after technical inspection carried out by food safety officers in the field.

“The food outlets failing to register in the grace period would face strict action as no unregistered food outlet would be allowed to operate in KP after six months,” he said.

Talking about the registration process, the spokesperson said food handlers were facilitated to the possible level, adding licence forms were available online and the required fee could be deposited in all banks across the province. Moreover, he said the registration process could also be initiated manually by visiting offices of the authority.

He said after registration maximum eight working days were required to process the licence till final technical inspection.
