MUZAFFARGARH: Former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar said on Thursday that no single party would emerge with a simple majority in the elections and the PPP would be a senior coalition partner in the next government.

Calling the PPP a real representative of the youth, Ms Khar told an election gathering at Qasba Gujrat, she would work for the welfare of the women, peasant and youth because her party believed in serving the downtrodden segments of society.

It was her second public address in NA-183, where her brother Raza Rabbani Khar is a candidate from the PPP. She said that she, being on the top of the PPP priority list of women’s reserved seat, was sure to reach the National Assembly. She appealed to the people to vote for Raza Khar. Aslam Araien had arranged the gathering.

Two well-attended rallies by Ms Khar in four days have changed the electioneering trend in the district as other candidates have also started holding rallies.

Earlier, a door-to-door campaign or reaching to area elders was the most effective methods by candidates to win votes. On Thursday, PTI candidates for NA-183 and PP-277 Rafique Khar and Niaz Gashkori held a rally in Mahmoodkot and conveyed the message of Imran Khan to the audience. They have invited party leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen to the constituency to attract more public. Similarly, Ms Khar has also invited former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and provincial party president Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood to attend a PPP rally at Karam Dad Qureshi town on Friday.

In NA-181, PTI’s Mustafa Khar, PPP’s Ihsanul Haq Naulatia and independent candidate Shabbir Mohsin Qureshi have arranged rallies.
