MANSEHRA: The administration has marked more than 200 Kashmir Road shops here for removal of encroachments.

The anti-encroachment campaign will begin shortly in line with the court’s permission, deputy commissioner Mohammad Zubair told a delegation of traders in his office on Tuesday.

He said the administration wanted to address traffic mess on Kashmir Road by demolishing structures occupying the government land.

The traders’ body, Anjuman-i-Tajran, had earlier got a stay order from a local court against the Kashmir Road anti-encroachment campaign.

The traders complained to the deputy commissioner against revenue officials of violating the rules during the marking of buildings and shops for demolition.

The DC however said the administration had records identifying encroachments on its land and won’t be unfair to anyone during the campaign.

He said encroachments had caused traffic mess on Kashmir Road with even ambulances struggling to shift patients to the hospitals.

Meanwhile, PTI candidate in PK-33 Nawabzada Fareed on Tuesday denied blocking development schemes.

“My father Nawabzada Salahuddin Saeed as MNA and I had never moved the court against gas supply to Agror and Tanawal. All that is false propaganda spread by our rivals,” Mr Fareed told a public meeting in Oghi on Tuesday.

He said the PTI if voted to power would serve the people.
