BALOCHISTAN as a federating unit of Pakistan is a backward province from all aspects; political, social, economic, or in terms of law and order and security. A land rich in mineral wealth and resources, the province has always been treated like a step-child in a Charles Dickens novel. The people of Balochistan hold many grouses against federal authorities.

The sense of deprivation among the people is increasing among the people. The creation of a new political party namely Balochistan Awami Party is viewed with concern. The new party’s formation is the strategy of non-democratic forces bent upon enforcing their writ upon the people’s mandate.

The Baloch people, who support democracy, are of the opinion that such elements are a threat to the country’s stability and are creating chaotic conditions in the province so that certain groups maintain their grip on Balochistan.

The establishment can best serve Pakistan by restoring normalcy in Balochistan and respecting the people’s mandate.
