MITHI: Thar was among a few districts of Sindh which received rain late on Sunday and Monday.

In the desert region the areas receiving light to moderate rain included Chhachhro, Dahli, Nagarparkar, Islamkot, Mithi and others.

People of Thar heaved a sigh of relief after the rainfall.

Reports from the hilly area of Nagarparkar said that some streams from the hilltop of Karoonjhar hills also started to flow down after the downpour. Local people said the entire desert region needed four or five good showers with the interval of 10 to 15 days to help cultivate traditional crops and fodder for their livestock.

Nawabshah and its surrounding towns also received light rain on Monday.

It was the first monsoon spell of the season during which the city areas and its surrounding villages received light rain. The showers started early in the morning and continued till 11am with intervals.

Though the rain was light, all electricity feeders of Nawabshah tripped and the entire city remained without power for six to seven hours, adding to the people’s problems.
