HYDERABAD, Jan 9: The president of Pakistan Medical Association, Sindh chapter, Dr Noor Mohammad Memon, has expressed concern over the agitation started by some elements of the district government, Sukkur, against the health department.

In a statement faxed to Dawn here on Wednesday, he said the controversy between the two government agencies was due to ignorance and ambiguity about the powers and jurisdiction of the district government components.

He pointed out that seniority was an established criterion for the posting of officers on senior administrative posts which had not only been accepted by the health department but also demonstrated in the postings on top slots.

He, however, said that sporadic cases, if any, could be referred to the health department for proper action.

Referring to the posting of medical superintendent, Sukkur, he said the matter should have gone to the health secretary for placing it before proper forum, instead of any action at the district government level.

He said instructions were being provided for promotion of good working relationship between the components of the district government at different levels.
