MURREE: Gushing water in a nullah swept away six motorcyclists on Murree Expressway near Mulach on Thursday night, Rescue 1122 sources confirmed to Dawn on Friday. Seven others were injured one of them was stated to be serious.

Thirteen youngsters from Rawalpindi, riding on eight motorcycles, were heading towards Rawalpindi in rainy conditions after attending Baba Lal Sha’s mela at Sorassi.

When they reached Mulach, their motorcycles skidded off the road in flowing rainwater on the Expressway and they fell in the nullah where strong current swept them away.

The swimmers of Rescue 1122, however, rescued seven of them.

Later, they recovered the bodies of the rest and handed them over to their families after medico-legal at Murree Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Officials of Rescue 1122 told Dawn that the road was slippery due to mud brought by rainwater, and the motorcyclists failed to control their vehicles due to speeding.

The injured were also shifted to THQ hospital Murree and the serious was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
