WHILE going from door to door and holding corner meetings, politicians are ignoring the Election Commission of Pakistan’s code of conduct and also violating the government ban on fireworks and the display of firearms. That is not all. Some of the more desperate candidates are threatening opponents of dire consequences and creating a law and order situation.

The concerned authorities must take strict measures and ensure foolproof security. The election must be fair, free and transparent as the people’s future is at stake.
