DERA MURAD JAMALI: National Party president Senator Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo has called for a shutter-down strike on Friday (July 13) in Makran division against shortage of water and power loadshedding.

Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, he said the issues of water and power should be resolved within two days, otherwise a strike would be observed in Makran division.

He said that the people of Makran division, including Gwadar, were facing suspension of power supply for several weeks because of a fault in the transmission line supplying electricity to the area from Iran. “Suspension of power supply has become a very serious issue, but the authorities concerned were not paying attention to resolve the issue,” he said.

Water resources in and around Gwadar had dried up as the catchment areas had not receive rains, he added.

Mr Bizenjo claimed that an agreement signed with a Chinese company for supply of over 400,000 gallons of drinking water could not be implemented due to interference of civil administration.
