KARACHI: Unseeded Haris Iqbal and Mohammad Naeem pulled off major upsets when they sent top seed Kashif Asif and fourth seed Mohammad Naeem packing in men’s qualifying round one of the Pakistan Squash Circuit III which begins at the PN Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex on Friday.

Iqbal carved out a 13-11, 11-9, 11-2 victory over Asif while Naeem was home 13-11, 11-7, 11-1 against Mehboob. Besides eight seed Mohammad Abdul Qadir also made exit losing straight to Abbas Zeb.

Meanwhile, other seeded players were through to the quarter-finals.

Three matches were played in women’s qualifying round.

Myra Saleem bt Neha Kamal Khan 13-10, 11-8, 11-6; Komal Khan bt Zaynab Khan 13-11, 11-4, 11-4; Rushna Mehboob bt Ilsa Imran 11-6, 11-1, 11-7.
