KARACHI, Jan 9: Another two events — drama and debate competitions — were completed on the second day of the 3rd International Schools Educational Olympiad on Wednesday.

However, the organizers of the show did not release the results of the competitions. The chairperson of the Olympiad, Parveen Kassim, said the results were with the judges and the winners’ names would be disclosed at the concluding ceremony of the events on January 11.

In all, 50 schools, with one speaker each, participated in the debates held in two sessions, while the topics encompassed the points like capitalism, socialism, foreign culture, local culture, feudalism, freedom, artificial and natural.

In drama competition, each of the 40 participating teams was presented by two students, who were supposed to perform on a given script from “Happy Days” by Samuel Beckett. The students were required to perform within three and-a-half minutes on the memorised script, while marks were given for smooth exchange of lines, expression, emotion and bringing the lines to life.

The judges of the contests included Salima Hashmi, Shoaib Hashmi, Arshad Mahmood, Shama Askari, Musaddaq Sanwal, Ayesha Jamil, and Zahra Shahid Hussain.
