CHITRAL: The Himalayan wolves have reportedly devoured dozens of cattle heads in the pastures of Yarkhoon valley, flanking Baroghil area where people set free their domestic animals for grazing for three months of the summer season.

Mohammad Wazir, a former member of district council from the valley, said that the predators carried out attack in the nighttime in the pastures as the farmers found the goats, sheep and ox dissected with their bones, fur and horns scattered all around.

He said that the wolves left one pasture and attacked in the vicinity the next night, making it difficult for the farmers to guard their livestock while the people were scared to kill the killer animals due to a ban imposed by the law.

He said that cattle farming was a major source of sustenance in the area.

He said that killing of cattle inflicted financial losses on the farmers and department of wildlife should compensate them.
