CHARSADDA: Three members of a family were killed and three others injured when a rival party opened fire on them after exchange of hot words over a children dispute in limits of Umarzai police station late on Monday night.

According to police and local residents, accused Ameer and Walayat argued with Javed and his sons over children, and then opened indiscriminate fire on them. As a result, Javed, his son Abid and Fareed Khan were killed on the spot, while Ajab Khan, a woman named Reema and Suleman got serious wounds. The injured were taken to a hospital in Peshawar in precarious condition.

Relatives placed bodies of the deceased on Umarzai-Peshawar road and blocked it for traffic. DSP circle and SHO Umarzai police station along with personnel reached the spot soon after the incident and besieged the house of the accused persons, but they had already escaped the area.

The police registered triple murder case against the accused and started investigation.
