BATTAGRAM: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-S has extended support to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s candidate in the PK-29 constituency here.

This was announced by JUI-S provincial naib emir Qari Faqeer Mohammad Hazarvi while addressing a function at the residence of PTI candidate Taj Mohammad Khan Tarand on Saturday.

He said the PTI local leadership was in close contact with the JUI-S, seeking its support for the elections. He said after consultations, the JUI-S leadership had allowed the local leaders to join hands with PTI in the general elections.

He asked the party workers in Battagram to ensure success of the PTI candidate.

According to political analysts, JUI-S enjoys a healthy vote bank in the constituency and the party would play a decisive role during the polls.

On the occasion, PTI’s former provincial minister Mohammad Yusuf Khan Tarand thanked the JUI-S leadership for supporting the PTI candidate. He claimed that former chief minister Pervez Khattak had completed development works worth billions of rupees in the district.

RAIN LASHES BATTAGRAM: Heavy rain with strong winds lashed Battagram district on Sunday evening, bringing relief to the people from hot and humid weather.

However, rainwater accumulated in the low-lying areas, causing problems to the residents.

Scattered rains were also reported in Kuzabanda, Ajmera, Chappargram and some areas of Allai tehsil.
